BYJU'S

BYJU'S is the consumer brand of Think & Learn Private Limited, a Bengaluru-based education technology company founded in 2011 by Byju Raveendran. It built its business on app-based and online learning for school students, and later added test preparation for competitive and government exams. Company records list Think & Learn as a private limited company incorporated in Karnataka on 30 November 2011.

The products listed on appadvisor.in are linked to the BYJU'S group. BYJU'S Exam Prep grew out of Gradeup, a Noida-based test-prep platform that BYJU'S bought in September 2021 and renamed. Tynker, a US platform that teaches children to code, was bought by BYJU'S in 2021. It was later sold to CodeHS in 2025 through a US bankruptcy court auction, for about USD 2.2 million according to press reports.

BYJU'S sold mostly to consumers, through a direct sales force and app subscriptions, rather than as business software. Indian buyers should check the current operator and support status of any BYJU'S-branded product before paying for it, because group entities have been sold and restructured.

In July 2024 the Board of Control for Cricket in India started insolvency proceedings against Think & Learn over unpaid sponsorship dues. The case has since been heard by the NCLT, the NCLAT and the Supreme Court. According to Business Standard and other outlets, the Supreme Court dismissed an appeal by the suspended director Byju Raveendran in May 2026 and said the insolvency process should continue. US lenders separately sold overseas subsidiaries, including Epic and Tynker, in 2025.
