Customer Support & Communication
Contact-centre software runs inbound and outbound calling with IVR, ACD, dialler, recording and agent desktops, increasingly blended with chat and WhatsApp. Cloud telephony providers supply the numbers and minutes; several Indian vendors do both.

Cloud telephony provides numbers, IVR and routing; contact-centre software adds agent management, diallers, QA and omnichannel workflows on top.
India buyer's guide
Cloud telephony gives a business virtual phone numbers, call routing, recording and agent dashboards without installing an on-premise EPABX. Calls arrive on toll-free, local or mobile-style virtual numbers and ring agents on their mobiles, desk phones or browser softphones, wherever they sit. Indian sales and support teams use it to track every lead call, run outbound calling, and link each conversation to the customer record in their CRM.
Strong providers deliver clear call quality across Indian networks, reliable number provisioning with the right regulatory paperwork, and detailed call logs with recordings that are easy to search. Weak ones suffer dropped calls, delays in number activation, confusing per-minute billing and CRM integrations that log calls inconsistently, leaving managers unsure which enquiries were called back and which were simply missed.
Judge the best cloud telephony provider in India on call quality, number availability and integration depth. Test calls from different operators and cities, check how quickly virtual and toll-free numbers are activated after KYC, and verify missed-call alerts, recording, IVR menus and click-to-call from your CRM. Look at uptime commitments, redundancy across carriers and how accurately call logs map to lead records.

A small business needs one virtual number that rings a few mobile phones in sequence or together, records calls, sends missed-call alerts by SMS or WhatsApp and shows a simple call log. A short welcome message and business-hour routing help it sound established. Choose a provider with straightforward KYC, prepaid or low-minimum plans and a usable mobile app.
Indian cloud telephony providers operate within the licensing framework of the Department of Telecommunications and TRAI, handle KYC for every number, and offer local numbers across many circles, toll-free numbers and missed-call services. They typically integrate with Indian CRMs and WhatsApp, support number masking for delivery and field staff, provide help in Indian hours and bill in INR with GST.

App Advisor publishes no user ratings, and telephony reviews often reflect one region or one carrier's performance. In a trial, place calls from different operators and cities, listen to recordings for clarity, time how long number activation takes and check whether every call appears correctly in your CRM. Monitor dropped and unanswered calls over at least a week. How App Advisor rates software.
Compare cloud telephony on number types available, KYC turnaround, call quality across networks, routing strategies (sequential, simultaneous, skill-based), IVR builder, call recording and retention, click-to-call, auto-dialler for outbound campaigns, missed-call alerts, agent mobile apps and softphones, CRM integrations, live call monitoring, uptime commitments, and transparency of minute and channel billing. Also check whether call recordings can be searched by lead or number.
Cloud telephony is usually priced as a monthly plan per user or per concurrent channel, plus usage charged per minute for incoming and outgoing calls. Virtual and toll-free numbers carry rental fees, and on toll-free lines the business pays for the caller's incoming minutes. Recording storage, auto-diallers and advanced analytics are often placed in higher tiers.
Every published plan, its billing term and whether GST is extra is on the cloud telephony price list for India, each price linked to the vendor's own pricing page.
Genuinely free cloud telephony is rare because every call and number carries real carrier costs. Some providers offer trial credits or a small bundle of free minutes to test with. Features such as call recording, multi-level IVR, CRM integrations and auto-diallers are generally paid, and trial numbers may be shared or temporary rather than your own.
Trial lengths as each vendor states them are listed on the free cloud telephony page.
Ask to see number provisioning and KYC steps, IVR setup, click-to-call from inside your CRM, retrieval of a recording from last week, and call analytics by agent. Ask about quality across networks, how failover works when one carrier has problems, and what happens to calls if an agent's mobile data drops mid-conversation. Ask about KYC documents needed.
Startups need quick setup, virtual numbers for sales and support, CRM integration and remote agents working from their own phones. Flexible month-to-month pricing and API access for custom workflows, such as triggering a call when a user signs up or fails a payment, help as volumes and team size change. A softphone in the browser reduces hardware needs.
MSMEs benefit from a professional business number instead of the owner's personal mobile, call routing to staff phones, missed-call alerts so no enquiry is lost, and recordings to settle disputes about what was promised. Simple pricing, quick KYC and responsive support in local languages matter more than advanced analytics. Call reports also show which staff actually answer customer calls.
Manufacturers use cloud telephony for dealer and service lines, routing calls by region, product or language to the right branch. Toll-free numbers for warranty and complaint support, call tracking for B2B enquiries from trade shows and adverts, and recordings for dealer disputes are common needs. Regional language routing matters when dealers call from different states.
Retailers use cloud telephony for store enquiries, delivery coordination and customer support. Number masking between delivery staff and customers protects privacy, store-level routing sends callers to the nearest outlet, and extra channels can be added during sale seasons without changing the published number. Recordings of delivery calls also help resolve failed-delivery disputes with customers. Masked numbers should expire after delivery.
Agencies use cloud telephony to track leads from client campaigns, assigning separate call-tracking numbers to each advert, landing page or channel and reporting call volumes and durations back to clients. Multi-client dashboards and recordings help prove campaign quality and resolve disputes about lead counts. White-label client reports add value to retainers and simplify monthly reviews.
Cloud telephony services carry GST at 18% on rentals, licences and usage. Get tax invoices showing your GSTIN and the correct place of supply so input tax credit can be claimed, including on prepaid wallet top-ups. If you operate from several states, check whether the provider can bill each GSTIN separately. The telephony tool itself does not handle GST filings.
Switch when call quality drops, billing is opaque or CRM integrations fail repeatedly. Check number portability first: toll-free and virtual numbers may not always move between providers, which could mean reprinting numbers on packaging and adverts. Export call logs and recordings before switching, and run both providers in parallel briefly. Update CRM integration settings too.

Cloud telephony affiliate programmes typically pay for referred customers who subscribe or keep topping up their wallets. Check tracking duration, payout terms and whether commission applies to usage as well as plans. Recommend providers whose call quality you have verified in your audience's regions. Disclose any affiliation clearly to readers and avoid overstating call-quality claims.
Partner programmes suit CRM implementers and system integrators who set up telephony, IVR and click-to-call for clients. Check training, API documentation, sandbox numbers, support escalation for call-quality complaints, and lead-sharing terms. Understand who handles KYC paperwork for client numbers. Clarify who pays for test usage and who supports clients when call quality degrades in a region.
Resellers buy telephony capacity at wholesale and resell it with their own support, sometimes white-labelled. Check licensing obligations under telecom rules, KYC responsibilities for end customers, pricing and minute rates, number ownership if a client leaves, and GST invoicing requirements for rentals and usage. Confirm how outages at the upstream provider are communicated to you and your customers.
All verified programs across categories are in the software partner program directory. More India software guides: business software in India.
Yes. Providers must collect business KYC before activating numbers, typically company registration proof, GST certificate or similar documents and identity proof of an authorised signatory. Incomplete paperwork is the most common cause of activation delays, so prepare it before signing up.
Yes. Cloud telephony can route calls to mobiles, desk phones or softphones, and can show the business number to customers instead of the employee's personal number. When staff leave, the customer relationship and call history stay with the business. Useful for sales teams.
It depends on the number type. Regular mobile numbers can be ported between telecom operators, but virtual and toll-free numbers issued by a cloud telephony provider may not move easily. Ask about portability before printing a new number on marketing material.
Call recording is widely used for quality and dispute resolution. Inform callers with a message at the start, store recordings securely with restricted access, and set a retention period. Under data protection rules, recordings are personal data and should not be kept indefinitely.
Most providers offer ready integrations or APIs for click-to-call, automatic call logging and screen pop-ups showing the caller's record. Test that missed calls, recordings and call durations appear against the right lead, especially when one customer has several numbers. Test with real calls.
Because routing happens in the provider's cloud, calls can still ring agents' mobiles over the ordinary cellular network. Softphone users will be affected, so set a fallback rule that diverts calls to mobiles when softphones are unreachable. Keep this rule tested regularly.
