JetBrains

JetBrains is a privately held software company headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic. It makes development tools for programmers and software teams, and it is best known for its integrated development environments (IDEs), which cover most major programming languages, and for creating the Kotlin programming language.

The products relevant to Indian businesses are IntelliJ IDEA for Java and Kotlin, PyCharm for Python, WebStorm for JavaScript, DataGrip for databases, and IDEs for PHP, C/C++, .NET, Go and Ruby. JetBrains also offers team tools such as TeamCity for continuous integration and YouTrack for issue tracking, together with AI coding features across its IDEs. Indian IT services firms, product companies and individual developers are among the users of these tools.

JetBrains sells subscriptions online, either individually per product or through the All Products Pack, with separate prices for individuals and organisations. Larger volume purchases go through its sales team and authorised resellers. It offers free licences to students, teachers and open-source projects, and several IDEs have free community editions.

The company was founded in February 2000 and has grown without external funding. Its corporate overview gives Maxim Shafirov as CEO, more than 15 million users and 305,000 companies using its paid tools. It also states that 90 of the Fortune Global Top 100 companies are customers. JetBrains has 12 offices worldwide, with research labs in cities including Munich, Berlin, Amsterdam and Boston, and sales offices in Prague, the United States and Shanghai. Its corporate overview does not list an Indian office. Indian organisations generally buy JetBrains subscriptions online or through authorised resellers at international list prices.
