Practo

Practo is a Bengaluru-based healthcare technology company. It runs a consumer platform for finding doctors, booking appointments, online consultations and diagnostic tests, and it also sells practice and hospital management software to clinics, doctors and hospitals.

The products relevant to Indian healthcare businesses are Practo Ray, practice management software for clinics that covers appointments, electronic medical records, prescriptions and billing; Insta by Practo, a hospital information management system; and the doctor listing and appointment booking marketplace in the Practo app. Practo says Ray is used by more than 10,000 clinics and that Insta has more than 500 clients across 1,200 facilities.

Clinic software is sold on subscription through Practo's sales team, while consumers use the app for free and pay for consultations or services. Practo also operates health plans and partnerships with employers and insurers. It serves customers in India and in several other Asian markets, including Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore.

Practo was founded in 2008 by Shashank ND, now founder and CEO, and Abhinav Lal, who began the company in their final year of engineering. The company's leadership page also lists Siddhartha Nihalani as a co-founder. Practo reports more than 100,000 doctor partners, more than 30 crore patients a year and operations in over 20 countries. The first product the founders built was the Practo Ray software for doctors. Practo has not published a total employee count or revenue figures on its official pages. Clinics evaluating Practo Ray or Insta should ask for current subscription pricing, data migration support, and where patient records are hosted.
