Squarespace

Squarespace is a US company based in New York City that makes website building, hosting and online business tools. Anthony Casalena founded it in 2003 as a blog hosting service while he was a student at the University of Maryland. He is still its CEO.

The products listed on appadvisor.in include the core Squarespace website builder with templates and hosting, and Squarespace Commerce for online stores, digital products and memberships. They also include Squarespace Domains, which grew after Squarespace bought Google Domains' assets in 2023, and Acuity Scheduling, an appointment booking tool bought in 2019. Squarespace also offers email marketing, invoicing and payment tools.

Squarespace sells worldwide online with self-serve monthly and annual plans. Indian customers can use it, but prices are generally shown in US dollars or other international currencies, not Indian rupees. Its commerce and payment features work with global payment providers, so Indian merchants should check GST invoicing and local payment options such as UPI before choosing it.

Squarespace was listed on the New York Stock Exchange from 2021. The investment firm Permira took it private in a deal completed on 17 October 2024, which valued it at about USD 7.2 billion after Permira raised its offer to USD 46.50 per share. Casalena kept most of his shares and remains one of the largest shareholders. Squarespace says it serves millions of customers in more than 200 countries and territories. Squarespace's headquarters is at 225 Varick Street in New York City. Permira first offered USD 44 per share in May 2024 before raising its bid.
