Quick answer: BUSY helps small and mid-sized trading and manufacturing businesses by combining accounting, GST billing, inventory with multi-warehouse support, e-invoicing and e-way bills at published annual prices (₹5,000 to ₹12,000 per year for three editions, per the vendor). It fits distributors, pharmacies and FMCG sellers. If your CA insists on TallyPrime or you need counter-billing speed, compare those first.

Where BUSY sits in the market

BUSY is an accounting and billing package aimed at trade. Its website calls it "the accounting and GST billing software built for growing businesses". Unlike a phone billing app, it is a full accounting system with ledgers and reports. Unlike a heavy ERP, it is priced for small and mid-sized firms and sold in editions with fixed annual fees.

For a growing business that is where it earns its keep. A distributor who crosses a few crore of turnover starts needing multi-godown stock, party-wise outstanding, batch tracking and GST reconciliation, without an enterprise implementation. BUSY targets that gap.

What the vendor documents

From BUSY's website:

  • Accounting and ledger management with financial reporting.
  • GST accounting and compliance, invoicing and billing with WhatsApp sharing.
  • Inventory management with multi-warehouse support.
  • Auto e-way bill generation and auto e-invoice with QR codes.
  • One-click GSTR reconciliation for GSTR-1, 2A, 2B and 3B.
  • A mobile app and BUSY Online, its cloud-based access.
  • BUSY Recom for e-commerce reconciliation and BUSY for Mandi, aimed at commission agents.

BUSY says it serves over 600,000 businesses across 20+ industries, naming retail, pharmacy, e-commerce, FMCG, manufacturing, food and beverage, agriculture and real estate. These are vendor claims. The site also shows review ratings from Google, Capterra, G2 and Software Suggest; they are self-reported selections and worth checking on those platforms.

Published pricing

Per the vendor's website (checked October 2026): Start Plan ₹5,000 per year, Smart Plan ₹8,000 per year, Power Plan ₹12,000 per year, and Power+ for larger organisations (quoted). The vendor's website does not break down what each edition includes, such as users, branches or modules, so ask for the feature matrix in writing. Taxes and any add-on modules are not included in these figures.

At the entry price, BUSY compares well with monthly subscriptions: ₹5,000 per year is about ₹417 per month, though that is not a like-for-like comparison with a cloud plan, since features and user counts differ.

Business types it suits

Wholesalers and distributors with many parties and credit terms. Pharmacies and FMCG sellers where batch and expiry may matter; verify the batch features you need in a demo. Small manufacturers wanting accounts plus stock. E-commerce sellers reconciling marketplace payouts through BUSY Recom. Commission agents in agri markets through BUSY for Mandi.

Consider a regional FMCG distributor with two godowns, thirty salesmen-linked parties and monthly GSTR filing. The value is in stock by godown, party-wise outstanding, and one-click reconciliation against GSTR-2B instead of a manual spreadsheet match.

Workflows that speed up

  1. Billing and dispatch. Create the invoice, generate the e-invoice QR and e-way bill automatically, and share on WhatsApp.
  2. GST reconciliation. Match purchases against GSTR-2A and 2B and resolve differences before filing.
  3. Stock by warehouse. Track movement between locations and see where stock sits.
  4. Marketplace payouts. Reconcile e-commerce settlements instead of tallying by hand.
  5. Month-end close. Accounts, GST and stock reports come from one data set, which reduces the number of hand-offs to your CA.

For GST-specific detail, see GST invoicing software compared.

Setup in a week

Day 1: Choose the edition after listing users, branches and modules, then install. Day 2: Create the company, enable GST and e-invoicing details. Day 3: Import or create masters: items, parties, godowns. Day 4: Enter opening balances and stock; verify the trial balance. Day 5: Configure invoice print and e-way bill settings. Day 6: Post live transactions for two days alongside the old system. Day 7: Run the GST reconciliation and review with your CA.

When to choose something else

The accounting category lists more options.

Who BUSY is not for

A one-person shop that needs only a phone billing app will find a full accounting package heavy. A company needing deep manufacturing planning, multi-entity consolidation or very large user counts should look at ERP software. And if your accountant has never used BUSY, budget time for learning, or choose the system your accountant knows.

What to test in a BUSY demo

Bring a real month of data. Ask the vendor or partner to show these, live, in your trial company:

  1. A sales invoice with e-invoice QR and an e-way bill generated from it.
  2. A purchase entry reconciled against a GSTR-2B line, including a mismatch.
  3. A stock transfer between two godowns and the resulting stock report.
  4. A party-wise outstanding report with ageing.
  5. Your usual invoice print format, with your logo and terms.
  6. A user with restricted permissions trying to edit a locked voucher.
  7. The backup and restore process, start to finish.

If you sell through marketplaces, add a settlement file from your last month and see how BUSY Recom handles it. If you are a commission agent in a mandi, ask for a walkthrough of the mandi edition with your own cycle. A vendor who can do all of this in your data, rather than slides, is telling you something useful about support after the sale.

Rolling out across branches

If you operate more than one outlet, pilot with the busiest branch first, because it exposes the problems early. Agree a single naming scheme for items and parties so that reports roll up cleanly. Decide who may create new items, since duplicate items (the same product entered twice with slightly different names) are the most common data problem in multi-user systems. Review the item master monthly for the first quarter and merge duplicates.

A note on pricing comparisons

Annual fixed-fee software and monthly subscriptions look different on a price list but should be compared over three years, including users, branches, upgrades and support. Ask whether renewal is at the same price, what upgrades cost, and whether support is included. Put every vendor's answer in one sheet so that the comparison is on equal terms.

What BUSY does not tell you on its homepage

The vendor's website does not list per-edition feature limits, user counts or branch limits, nor did it detail batch handling for pharmacies. Treat those as open questions and get answers in writing, including whether e-invoicing and the mobile app are part of each edition or separate.

FAQs

How much does BUSY accounting software cost?

BUSY's website lists Start at ₹5,000 per year, Smart at ₹8,000 and Power at ₹12,000, plus a quoted Power+ edition. Confirm current prices and what each edition includes.

Does BUSY support e-invoicing and e-way bills?

Yes, the vendor lists auto e-way bill generation and auto e-invoice with QR codes. Check applicability for your turnover with your CA.

Can BUSY work on mobile or in the cloud?

BUSY lists a mobile app and BUSY Online for cloud-based access. Ask which features are available there.

Is BUSY better than Tally?

It depends on your trade and accountant. BUSY emphasises trade workflows at fixed annual prices; Tally's strength is accountant familiarity. Run a short pilot of both.

Can BUSY reconcile GST returns?

The vendor describes one-click reconciliation for GSTR-1, 2A, 2B and 3B. Your CA should still review mismatches.
