Software covered in this blog

Hosting is one of the few software purchases in India where the price you see on the pricing page is almost never the price you end up paying. Every major host advertises a deeply discounted first term and renews at a much higher rate, and the renewal number is printed right next to the headline — just in smaller type. This article collects what Hostinger, BigRock, Bluehost India and InMotion actually publish today, explains the renewal gap in rupees, and sorts out who owns which brand, because several "competing" Indian hosts share one parent company.

Every figure below was read off the vendor's own pricing page. Where a vendor blocks automated access to its pricing page, that is said plainly rather than filled in from memory.

The headline price and the renewal price are two different products

Take Hostinger's shared hosting page. The Premium plan is shown at ₹149/mo. Directly beneath it: "Get 48 months for ₹7,152 (regular price ₹28,752). Renews at ₹449/mo." So ₹149 is a 48-month prepayment rate, and the rate that applies from year five onward is ₹449/mo — roughly three times the advertised figure.

The same structure repeats across the market:

HostPlanAdvertisedRenews atTerm to get the advertised rate
HostingerSingle₹69/mo₹289/mo48 months, ₹3,312 upfront
HostingerPremium₹149/mo₹449/mo48 months, ₹7,152 upfront
HostingerUnlimited₹249/mo₹649/mo48 months, ₹11,952 upfront
HostingerCloud Startup₹599/mo₹1,599/mo48 months, ₹28,752 upfront
BigRockStandard₹69/mo₹409/moTerm shown at checkout
BigRockBusiness₹99/mo₹649/moTerm shown at checkout
BigRockPro₹129/mo₹759/moTerm shown at checkout
BigRockUltimate₹149/mo₹989/moTerm shown at checkout
Bluehost IndiaStarter₹199/mo₹349/mo36 months, GST extra
Bluehost IndiaBusiness₹279/mo₹529/mo36 months, GST extra
Bluehost IndiaeCommerce Essentials₹649/mo₹1,299/mo36 months, GST extra

Two things fall out of that table.

First, the "cheap" hosts are not cheap at renewal. BigRock's ₹69 Standard plan renews at ₹409/mo — a roughly six-fold step up, and the widest gap of any plan here. Bluehost India's gap is the narrowest: ₹199 to ₹349 on Starter, under 2x. If you expect to stay put for five years, the renewal column matters far more than the headline.

Second, the advertised rate is a prepayment, not a monthly bill. Hostinger's page states outright that "all plans are paid upfront" and that the monthly rate is the total plan price divided by the number of months. ₹149/mo on Premium means handing over ₹7,152 today. Bluehost India additionally notes GST is not included in the displayed figure.

The honest way to compare is total cost of ownership over the period you actually intend to run the site: first-term total, plus renewal rate times the remaining months. On that basis a ₹199/mo plan renewing at ₹349 often beats a ₹69/mo plan renewing at ₹409 before year four is out.

If you want the full field rather than the four hosts above, App Advisor's web hosting category lists the providers selling into India, and the individual pages — Hostinger, BigRock, Bluehost India, GoDaddy India, HostingRaja — carry the plan details.

Shared, cloud and VPS: what you are actually buying

The three tiers are not "small, medium, large" of the same thing. They differ in what you are allocated and who administers it.

Shared hosting

Your site sits on a server with many other sites and shares its CPU and memory. The host runs the operating system, the control panel and the updates. This is what every plan in the table above is, except Hostinger's Cloud Startup. Limits are expressed in websites, storage and — tellingly — things like email accounts: BigRock's Standard allows 1 website, 20 GB NVMe SSD and 10 email accounts; its Ultimate allows 20 websites, 100 GB and 100 email accounts.

Shared is the right answer for a brochure site, a blog, or a small business site with steady traffic. It stops being the right answer when a traffic spike starts costing you sales.

Cloud hosting (managed)

Hostinger's Cloud Startup is listed with 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe storage, 100 PHP workers and a dedicated IP address at ₹599/mo on a 48-month term, renewing at ₹1,599/mo. The distinction from shared is allocated resources plus a dedicated IP; the distinction from VPS is that you still do not administer the server. Hostinger's own framing is "the power of a VPS without running a server yourself."

VPS

You get a virtualised slice of a machine with root access, and you are the system administrator. Hostinger's published KVM tiers:

PlanAdvertisedRenews atResources
KVM 1₹599/mo₹999/mo1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe, 4 TB bandwidth
KVM 2₹799/mo₹1,199/mo2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe, 8 TB bandwidth
KVM 4₹1,099/mo₹2,399/mo4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM, 200 GB NVMe, 16 TB bandwidth
KVM 8₹2,199/mo₹4,399/mo8 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB NVMe, 32 TB bandwidth

Renewal terms on VPS are stated as two-year rates. Note that KVM 1 at ₹599/mo is priced identically to Cloud Startup at ₹599/mo — same money, completely different deal. Cloud Startup is managed and gives you 100 GB of storage and unlimited sites; KVM 1 gives you root and 50 GB, and you patch it yourself.

If you would rather pay by the hour than by the four-year term, the developer clouds are a different market: DigitalOcean and Linode (Akamai) sit in cloud platforms, and both publish per-instance pricing without a lock-in term.

Who owns whom: Newfold Digital

A lot of Indian hosting "comparisons" pit brands against each other that answer to the same owner. Newfold Digital's own brands page lists Bluehost, BigRock, HostGator, Network Solutions, ResellerClub, Yoast and Crazy Domains among its brands.

That has practical consequences. Comparing BigRock against Bluehost India is comparing two Newfold products — real differences in plan shape and price exist, but not the independence you might assume. If you are looking for a ResellerClub alternative specifically because you want a different parent company, moving to BigRock or Bluehost does not achieve that; InMotion Hosting, SiteGround, A2 Hosting, Namecheap and Hostinger are separately owned.

InMotion publishes in US dollars even for Indian buyers. Its shared plans are listed as Launch at $4.99/mo renewing at $13.99/mo, Power at $5.99/mo renewing at $17.99/mo, and Pro at $10.99/mo renewing at $24.99/mo, with a 90-day money-back guarantee. Pro is listed with 40 websites, 2 vCPU cores, 4 GB RAM and 300 GB NVMe storage. Those are dollar prices; your card will be charged at whatever rate your bank applies, and this article does not convert them.

On GoDaddy pricing

GoDaddy's Indian hosting pages returned HTTP 403 to every direct request made while writing this, so no GoDaddy plan price, renewal rate or website-build cost is quoted here. Check godaddy.com/en-in in a browser, and read the small print under the plan tile the same way as above: the renewal rate and the required term are printed there. The GoDaddy India and GoDaddy Website Builder pages on App Advisor track the product lineup.

Choosing: business site, store, agency

A business website or blog. Shared hosting, and the decision is mostly renewal rate and support. Bluehost India Starter (₹199/mo, renews ₹349/mo) and BigRock Standard (₹69/mo, renews ₹409/mo) cross over quickly; run the four-year total before choosing. If you are building on WordPress, note that both Hostinger's and Bluehost's pages carry the "Recommended by WordPress.org" badge — WordPress itself is free, the hosting is what you pay for. If you would rather not run a CMS at all, a hosted builder like Wix or Hostinger Website Builder bundles hosting into the subscription; see website builders.

An online store. Storage matters less than sustained CPU and PHP workers, because checkout pages cannot be cached. Bluehost India's eCommerce Essentials (₹649/mo, renews ₹1,299/mo, 100 GB, listed for around 400K visits/mo) and Hostinger's Cloud Startup (₹599/mo, renews ₹1,599/mo, 100 PHP workers, dedicated IP) are the shapes to look at if you are self-hosting WooCommerce. If you would rather not own the infrastructure at all, Shopify and the rest of ecommerce platforms price the hosting into the plan.

An agency. You want many sites on one bill, staging, and either reseller billing or root. Hostinger's Unlimited (₹249/mo, renews ₹649/mo, unlimited websites) and InMotion's Pro (40 websites) are the multi-site shared options; beyond that it is VPS. Watch the renewal rate hardest here, because agency accounts are the ones that never migrate.

One more thing worth budgeting separately: email. Several plans bundle mailboxes for the first year only — Hostinger's Premium lists "2 mailboxes per website - free for 1 year." After that it is a line item. Compare Hostinger Business Email and Google Workspace in email hosting rather than assuming it stays free.

FAQ

What are Hostinger's plans and prices in India?

Hostinger India publishes four shared plans — Single at ₹69/mo, Premium at ₹149/mo, Unlimited at ₹249/mo and Cloud Startup at ₹599/mo — all on 48-month prepaid terms, renewing at ₹289, ₹449, ₹649 and ₹1,599/mo respectively. VPS starts at ₹599/mo for KVM 1 (renews ₹999/mo). Storage runs from 10 GB SSD on Single to 100 GB NVMe on Cloud Startup, and all plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee.

How much does GoDaddy hosting cost in India?

This article does not quote GoDaddy prices, because GoDaddy's Indian hosting pages blocked every automated request made while researching it and the rule here is that a number must be read off the vendor's live page. Check the plan tiles on godaddy.com/en-in directly, and read the renewal rate and required term in the small print beneath the headline price — that is where the real cost is.

Is BigRock's ₹99 hosting actually ₹99?

Only for the first term. BigRock's Business plan is listed at ₹99/mo and "Renews at ₹649/mo" on the same tile, so the ongoing rate is about six and a half times the advertised one. Its Standard plan shows ₹69/mo renewing at ₹409/mo. BigRock's renewal multiples are the steepest among the Indian hosts checked here, which makes it cheap to start and expensive to stay.

What is a good ResellerClub alternative, and how does InMotion compare?

If your reason for leaving ResellerClub is the parent company, note that Newfold Digital's brands page lists ResellerClub, BigRock, Bluehost, HostGator and Network Solutions together — switching between those keeps you inside the same group. InMotion Hosting is independently owned and sells reseller hosting with white-label cPanel/WHM; it publishes in US dollars, with shared plans from $4.99/mo renewing at $13.99/mo and a 90-day money-back guarantee.

Who owns Bluehost, BigRock and HostGator?

Newfold Digital. Its brands page lists Bluehost, BigRock, HostGator, Network Solutions, ResellerClub, Yoast and Crazy Domains. This is worth knowing before you treat a comparison between two of those brands as a comparison between two independent companies.

Should I use Bluehost or Google Workspace?

They are not alternatives — the comparison only comes up because both sell mailboxes. Bluehost is web hosting that can include email; Google Workspace is productivity and email and does not host your website. If you need a website, you need hosting or a website builder regardless; if you need business email on your domain, that is a separate per-user subscription you can buy from either. Pricing both separately usually costs less confusion than bundling.
