Quick answer: Slack's India page lists rupee prices: Pro is shown at ₹245.25 per user per month when paid yearly (₹294.75 monthly), and Business+ at ₹557.10 yearly. Microsoft Teams arrives bundled inside Microsoft 365 Business plans, so you price the suite, not the chat. If you want rupee billing and a local vendor, Troop Messenger starts at ₹234 per user per month billed annually. Prices checked October 2026.
How we researched this: We read Slack's India pricing page and its Workflow Builder help article, Troop Messenger's pricing and FAQ page, Flock's pricing page, and Microsoft Learn's plan-options and Teams limits articles. Facts are as checked in October 2026. Microsoft publishes Teams and Microsoft 365 rupee prices on its own India pages, which we do not quote.
Slack's India price list, plan by plan
Slack's India pricing page quotes in rupees. For Pro it shows two numbers side by side, ₹545 and ₹245.25, followed by "per user/month, when paying yearly" and ₹294.75 "per user/month, when paying monthly". Business+ shows ₹1,238 and ₹557.10 yearly, with ₹668.25 monthly. The page does not say how long the lower figures last, so read the checkout screen and note which of the two numbers your invoice will carry before you sign for a year.
| Plan | Price per user per month (Slack India page, October 2026) | Message history | Notable inclusions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | ₹0 | 90 days searchable | 1:1 huddles, 1:1 external messages |
| Pro | ₹245.25 yearly / ₹294.75 monthly (₹545 also shown) | Unlimited | Unlimited app integrations, group huddles, external channels with up to 250 orgs |
| Business+ | ₹557.10 yearly / ₹668.25 monthly (₹1,238 also shown) | Unlimited | SAML single sign-on, SCIM, advanced AI features |
| Enterprise+ | Contact sales | Unlimited | Native data loss prevention, EMM integration support |
The detail that affects Indian SMBs most is the Free plan's rule: messages are "saved and searchable for 90 days", and the page says an upgrade gives access to the previous 12 months of messages. A small export-trading office that argues about a price quoted in a channel four months ago will find that message gone on Free. That alone pushes most active teams to Pro.
Slack also bills by use. Per its FAQ, "Members who take an action in Slack at any time within a 28-day period will be considered active for billing purposes", and if someone you have paid for becomes inactive, Slack adds a prorated credit. New users are charged a prorated amount for the rest of the billing period. For a company with seasonal staff, that matters more than the list price. Payment is by credit card on any plan; annual subscribers "may be eligible to be invoiced and pay by ACH or bank transfer", so ask Slack's sales team whether a bank-transfer invoice works for your finance team.
Where Microsoft Teams sits in the price comparison
Teams is not sold in a vacuum for most Indian SMBs. Microsoft Learn's plan table shows Microsoft Teams as "Yes" in Business Basic, Standard and Premium, alongside Exchange email, SharePoint and OneDrive. The Business family is limited to 300 users in total, per the same article. So the right cost comparison is Slack plus whatever email and Office you buy separately, against a Microsoft 365 plan that already includes Teams. Our Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 comparison sets out the suite side, including Google's rupee prices and Microsoft's plan limits.
Microsoft's Teams limits article gives the headroom: a team can hold 25,000 members, and a single team can have up to 1,000 channels, of which at most 30 can be private. Those caps will not bind a 100-person company. What will bind it is governance: who can create teams, and who owns the channel when the creator leaves. Also check Microsoft Teams Chat, the group-chat product page App Advisor lists separately, so you do not confuse it with the full Teams meeting-and-channel product.
If your staff already live in Outlook and Excel, adding Slack at ₹245.25 per user means paying twice for chat. If they do not use Microsoft apps, Teams drags a larger suite with it. Pick on that basis, not on the logo.
The Indian-priced options: Troop Messenger and Flock
Troop Messenger. Its pricing page says "Pricing in INR, taxes as applicable" and describes itself as "Made in India". The cards show Premium at ₹234 per user per month billed annually (₹2,808 per user per year) and Enterprise at ₹474 per user per month (₹5,688 a year). A third plan, Superior, is marked "Coming soon" for 500+ users at ₹599 per user per month. Premium includes one-to-one messaging, unlimited group chats, audio and video calling, message recall and live location tracking; Enterprise adds remote screen sharing, group calling, message edit and flagging, read receipts, and LDAP, Active Directory and SSO. Storage is 150 GB on Premium and 1 TB on Enterprise, according to its FAQ. It offers a 7-day free Enterprise trial. The vendor says messages, calls and files are end-to-end encrypted and that you can move to your own servers with its on-premise option; those are vendor statements, so test them in the trial. An add-on called TM Monitor, listed at ₹149 per user per month, tracks activity and productivity, so read our note on time tracking apps with screenshots before you switch anything like that on.
Flock. Flock's pricing page lists a Starter plan that is free "for teams with 1-20 members", with 10,000 searchable messages, 10 public channels, 5 GB total per team and a single team admin. Pro is listed for teams of 20 to 100 members with a 30-day free trial, and Enterprise for 100+ members on request, with 20 GB per team member and Active Directory sync. The page shows Pro as "/user/month" with no amount, so get the current price from Flock before comparing. Pro adds 10 GB per team member and unlimited channels.
You will find more options in App Advisor's team collaboration category, including Zoho Cliq, Pumble and Mattermost.
Slack workflow automation: what you get and what it costs
Slack's Workflow Builder is the part of the Slack bill that can actually remove work. Slack's help article says the tool "helps you automate everyday tasks and processes in Slack", that it is "available on paid subscriptions", and that by default "all full members can create workflows, and members and guests can use them". Workflows can start on a schedule or on Slack actions such as an emoji reaction, joining a channel or creating a channel. Connector steps let a workflow act in third-party apps once the account is authenticated, and admins can restrict which connector steps members may add.
Three workflows an Indian office could set up in an afternoon:
- Daily 9:30 stand-up prompt. A scheduled workflow posts a form in the sales channel; responses are collected and can be downloaded, as the help article describes.
- New joiner checklist. A workflow that starts when someone joins the #onboarding channel and posts the first-week tasks for HR.
- Emoji-based escalation. A reaction on a customer complaint triggers a form to the service head.
For heavier automation across apps, compare Slack with a dedicated tool; our Zapier vs Make vs n8n guide covers when to move logic out of the chat tool. Remember that Workflow Builder is not available on Free, which is one more reason the paid-plan price is the real entry price.
Security and admin controls to compare before you buy
Chat tools hold quotations, bank details and customer complaints, so compare admin controls, not just prices.
- Sign-in. Slack's page describes SAML-based single sign-on, which "supports 12 SSO options including Okta, Google and Azure", on its Business+ card. Troop Messenger lists LDAP, Active Directory and SSO on Enterprise. Flock lists Active Directory sync and single sign-on on its Enterprise plan.
- AI and data. Slack's pricing FAQ says it "does not share customer data with large language model (LLM) providers and does not use customer data to train LLMs". That is a vendor statement; ask for it in writing if you handle regulated customer data.
- Admins. Flock's Starter plan has a single team admin, while Pro and Enterprise list multiple. A single admin is a continuity risk: if that person leaves, nobody can manage the workspace.
- Where data sits. None of these pages promises Indian data residency in the text we read, so ask each vendor directly and use the questions in our data residency guide. Our guide to cybersecurity for Indian SMEs and business password managers cover the rest of the basics.
What 25 and 60 users actually cost per month
These are list-price calculations before tax, to show scale. They are not quotes.
A 25-person Pune distributor's back-office and sales team. Slack Pro on yearly billing: 25 x ₹245.25 = ₹6,131.25 a month; on monthly billing, 25 x ₹294.75 = ₹7,368.75. If the ₹545 figure on Slack's page is what you are billed, 25 x ₹545 = ₹13,625. Troop Messenger Premium: 25 x ₹234 = ₹5,850; Enterprise: 25 x ₹474 = ₹11,850. Flock Starter covers up to 20 members for free, so the 25-person team would be on Pro.
A 60-person Coimbatore manufacturer with plant supervisors and a head office. Slack Pro yearly: 60 x ₹245.25 = ₹14,715 a month. Troop Messenger Enterprise, which adds Active Directory and SSO: 60 x ₹474 = ₹28,440. Business+ on Slack: 60 x ₹557.10 = ₹33,426.

Choosing, then piloting before you pay yearly
- Pick Slack if you have a modern stack of SaaS tools that Slack's 2,600-plus listed apps connect to, if you work with external partners in shared channels, or if workflow automation is the goal.
- Pick Teams if you are buying Microsoft 365 anyway; the chat is already in the plan.
- Pick Troop Messenger if rupee billing, Indian support and the option to self-host matter more than the app ecosystem, for example in a business with strict data-handling rules.
- Pick Flock if you are under 20 people and want free chat while you grow, then re-check the Pro price.
- Skip all of them if your team talks only on WhatsApp and nothing is lost by that. A new chat tool will add a second inbox for the same conversations. In that case a task tool such as the ones in our Monday vs ClickUp comparison may fix the real problem.
A two-week pilot
Start one department, not the company. Week one: three channels (leads, dispatch, accounts), a rule that every customer-facing decision is posted in a channel rather than in a direct message, and one workflow. Week two: count how many WhatsApp groups went quiet. If none did, stop; the tool is not replacing anything. If two did, buy yearly seats for that department and add the next. Run the purchase through your software approval workflow, and see our video conferencing pricing guide if meetings, not chat, are the daily pain.
