How to choose

Ask the vendor to run a full cataract journey: new patient workup, biometry results imported from your device, surgery booking with IOL selection, package billing and post-op follow-ups. Watch how many clicks the optometrist needs. If you run an optical store, confirm it shares the prescription with the patient record and tracks lens orders from outside labs. Eye hospitals with branches should test central reporting, and anyone taking insurance patients should see the claim workflow.

Implementation and migration

List every diagnostic device by make and model before you sign, and get written confirmation of which ones integrate. Import patient demographics and optical stock first. Set up surgery packages and fee lists, then train optometrists, doctors, counsellors and optical staff separately, as each uses different screens. Plan a short parallel run during a lighter clinic week.
