Quick answer: Odoo CRM helps sales teams grow revenue by connecting the pipeline to quotations, subscriptions and email marketing inside the wider Odoo suite, and by offering AI lead scoring and automated lead assignment. Its first app is free with unlimited users per the vendor, so it is a low-risk start. It suits businesses that will add accounting, inventory or sales apps later; a standalone sales team may prefer Zoho CRM or Bitrix24.

The Odoo idea in one paragraph

Odoo is a suite of business apps, and CRM is one of them. That changes the buying question. With most CRMs you ask, "Is this the best pipeline tool?" With Odoo you ask, "Do I want my pipeline, quotes, invoices and stock to share one database?" If yes, Odoo CRM's value grows with every app you add. If you only want a pipeline, the suite is more than you need.

Odoo's CRM page says it has 28 million users globally across its apps, and that the CRM integrates with Sales, Subscriptions, Email Marketing and Events. Both are vendor statements.

What the vendor says the CRM does

From Odoo's CRM page:

  • Kanban pipeline. Opportunities appear as cards by stage, with drag and drop.
  • AI lead scoring. The page says it uses AI "to score leads" so teams can prioritise.
  • Automation. Lead creation, team assignment and scheduled activities "based on sales scripts".
  • Activity scheduling. Calls, meetings, mailings or quotations scheduled in a few clicks, with automatic next-activity planning.
  • Quotations. Quotes built from a product catalogue.
  • Communication. Email, live chat, SMS and VoIP, with incoming emails added to the pipeline.
  • Reporting. Revenue forecasts, team performance analysis and customisable dashboards.

Odoo's documentation adds detail on scoring. Its predictive lead scoring uses a "naive Bayes probability model" on historical CRM data and considers variables such as stage, team, location, whether phone and email exist, source, language and tags. The documentation also says it improves as more opportunities move through the pipeline, and a rep can manually override a probability, which stops automatic updates on that opportunity. Rule-based assignment lets you, for example, send leads above a probability threshold to chosen salespeople.

Practical meaning: predictive scoring needs history. A business with 30 past opportunities will get weak signals; one with a few hundred closed deals will get better ones. Do not expect miracles in month one.

Pricing

Per Odoo's pricing page (checked October 2026):

PlanPriceNotes
One App Free₹0One app, unlimited users, Odoo Online
Standard₹580 per user per month (yearly) or ₹950 monthlyAll apps on Odoo Online; discount valid 12 months for initial users
Custom₹1,080 per user per month (yearly) or ₹1,690 monthlyAdds Studio and Agentic AI, Odoo.sh or on-premise, multi-company, external API

The page says implementation services are not included. For a business adding CRM plus Sales and Accounting later, the per-user price moves from "free CRM" to the Standard plan the moment a second app is needed, so budget for that day, not today.

Where the revenue growth comes from

  1. Quote speed. A rep converts an opportunity to a quotation from the same screen, using the product catalogue. Fewer tools means fewer hours between "send me a price" and the price arriving.
  2. Follow-up discipline. Scheduled next activities mean an opportunity without a next step stands out. See automated daily follow-up in a CRM.
  3. Priority. Scoring or probability helps a rep call the 30 per cent opportunities before the 5 per cent ones.
  4. Fair assignment. Rule-based assignment avoids the owner personally handing out leads.
  5. Repeat revenue. If you sell subscriptions or contracts, linking CRM to Subscriptions keeps renewal opportunities visible.

A 30-day rollout

Week 1: free pilot. Start with the free app and a handful of users. Build your stages and import 100 real opportunities. Do not customise yet.

Week 2: process. Write the sales script for your stages. Set scheduled activities that match it, for example a call within one day of a new lead.

Week 3: assignment and email. Set assignment rules and connect incoming email. Check the plan you need if other apps are involved.

Week 4: reports and decision. Review forecast and team performance reports. Decide whether to stay on the free app or move to Standard to add Sales or other apps.

Because Odoo is configurable, appoint one person to own the setup and an external partner if you plan accounting or inventory. Read Odoo versus ERPNext versus NetSuite if an ERP decision is in play.

Zoho CRM lists workflows, a free edition and, in its scoring documentation, scoring rules that can be set manually or by Zia automation. Bitrix24 lists flat-fee plans that include users. See Zoho CRM pricing for India for more on that tool.

Who Odoo CRM is not for

  • A five-person team that wants to be live by Friday with no configuration. Odoo rewards patience.
  • Telecalling-heavy lead businesses with portal lead capture needs; check connectors first or look at dialer CRMs.
  • Businesses that will never use another business app, where the suite's main benefit disappears.
  • Real estate teams needing channel partner and unit workflows; see Sell.Do.

What to check before you commit

  • The free app limit. The pricing page says one app free with unlimited users on Odoo Online; confirm exactly which hosting and features that covers.
  • Which apps you will need in a year. Price the Standard plan for those users.
  • Implementation. Not included in the plan price; get a partner quote if needed.
  • Indian compliance. If you will use Odoo for GST invoicing, verify the Indian localisation in the vendor's documentation before relying on it.
  • Data hosting and export.

Keeping the setup simple

Odoo's flexibility invites over-engineering. A sensible discipline: for the first two months, change nothing except stage names, activity types and the fields you cannot live without. Every extra field is one more thing a rep must fill in, and incomplete data weakens the predictive scoring Odoo describes, which relies on information such as source and contact details being present.

Agree a small data standard. Every opportunity needs a source, an expected value and a next activity. Reps who skip them are told in the weekly review, not in a lecture. When you later add the Sales app or others, the same discipline carries over, and you will have clean history for the scoring model to learn from.

Running the weekly pipeline review in Odoo

A CRM earns its fee in the weekly review, not in the setup. Keep it to 30 minutes with the kanban pipeline on screen, filtered one salesperson at a time.

  1. Start at the right-hand stages. Open the opportunities closest to closing first, because that is where a week's delay costs most.
  2. Fix empty next steps. Odoo lets reps schedule the next activity on every opportunity. Any card without one gets an activity before the meeting ends; the rule is no opportunity leaves the room without a dated next step.
  3. Question overridden probabilities. Odoo's documentation says a manual override stops the automatic update on that opportunity, so a number set in March can still be sitting there in June. Ask why each override exists and release it where the reason has gone.
  4. Compare the forecast with what is real. Open the forecast report and check expected revenue by month against quotations actually sent.
  5. Record lost reasons. Three words per lost deal, such as price, timing or competitor, give you a pattern within a quarter.
