Software covered in this blog

Quick answer: Pick Vyapar if the billing PC must keep working when broadband drops: its Windows app stores data on the device by default and syncs later. Pick myBillBook if you want a cloud-first account across phone, web and PC, with the desktop app starting on its Pro plan at ₹3,990 a year. Vyapar's desktop Silver plan is ₹3,799 a year; Gold is ₹4,099. Both list their prices on their own pages.

How we researched this: We read Vyapar's desktop billing page, its accounting-software plan page and its offline-use page, plus myBillBook's PC billing page, Windows POS page and billing-app page. Prices, plan limits and system claims below are as published in October 2026, in rupees, and can change; confirm the figure at checkout.

Vyapar vs myBillBook billing app comparison at a glance

Both apps cover GST invoices, party ledgers, stock and payment tracking for small Indian businesses. The real differences sit in three places: where your data lives, what the desktop plan costs, and how many businesses or users a plan allows.

Prices are per Vyapar's accounting-software plan page and myBillBook's PC billing page (checked October 2026). Vyapar's landing pages do not list identical features per plan (its PC page puts Multi Device Sync under Gold, its accounting page under Silver), so treat the plan table at checkout as final.

Vyapar app download for PC Windows 11: what the install looks like

Vyapar's PC billing page states that the software works on "all major Windows versions like 7, 8, 10, and 11", and that it runs on low-spec desktops and laptops. It does not publish minimum RAM or processor figures, so on a very old counter machine run the trial before you pay.

The install, per Vyapar's page, is three steps:

  1. Press the "Download Vyapar Now" button. A pop-up asks for your phone number before the download starts.
  2. Open the setup file from your Downloads folder and install it.
  3. Log in with the same phone number, add your business and begin.

The desktop plan opens with a 7-day trial with all features unlocked. The page does not say whether a payment method is needed for the trial.

A practical tip for a Windows 11 shop PC: install it on the machine that has the thermal printer driver already working, run one test bill, and only then move your party list across. Vyapar lists "Import Parties" among the trial features, which saves retyping customer names from an Excel sheet.

myBillBook desktop billing app free: what is free and what needs a plan

myBillBook's PC billing page says the desktop app can be downloaded without a separate download charge, but "desktop app access and available features depend on your myBillBook subscription plan". In practice that means:

  • Plus (₹291/month when billed annually, or ₹3,490 a year; ₹349 billed monthly): unlimited invoices, 1 business, 1 user and 1 CA, inventory management, Android, iOS and web access, custom invoice themes, an online store, and barcode generation and printing. No desktop app.
  • Pro (₹333/month billed annually, or ₹3,990 a year; ₹399 billed monthly): everything in Plus, plus the desktop app, SMS and WhatsApp marketing, unlimited godown management, label-printer barcode printing and bulk download and print of invoices.
  • Pro Max (starts at ₹570/month billed annually): everything in Pro, plus 2 businesses, 3 users and 1 CA, unlimited e-way bills, e-invoicing, loyalty and rewards, automated recurring billing, POS billing on the desktop and web app, Tally data export on request and a user activity tracker.

So "free" applies to the download and the mobile plan, not to a working desktop counter. If a shop needs only mobile billing, the free mobile plan is a fair place to start, as the mobile billing apps guide explains.

How do I download myBillBook desktop exe file safely?

The page tells you to open the app store for your operating system (Windows or Mac), search for myBillBook and download it, then complete the installation and sign in with your mobile number. It does not publish a standalone installer file. Treat any website offering a "myBillBook desktop exe" download as unofficial; get the installer only through links on mybillbook.in or your platform's store. After sign-in you add the business name, GSTIN if applicable, address and invoice preferences, then items and customers.

Plan prices side by side

Here is what each desktop route costs on a yearly basis, using only the figures the two vendors publish.

PlanPriceWhat you get that matters
Vyapar Desktop Silver₹3,799/year3 firms, multi-device sync, fixed assets, bill-wise profit/loss, import parties, share with CA, accountant access
Vyapar Desktop Gold₹4,099/yearSilver plus 5 firms, chart of accounts, trial balance and balance sheet, account statement, TCS/TDS on invoices, credit limits, payment reminders
Vyapar Desktop Retail Pro₹8,999/yearGold plus unlimited businesses, unlimited firm backups, party-wise profit/loss, godown and stock transfer, marketing tools
myBillBook Pro₹3,990/yearDesktop app, godowns, SMS and WhatsApp marketing, 1 business, 1 user, 1 CA
myBillBook Pro Maxfrom ₹570/month, billed annually2 businesses, 3 users, e-invoicing, e-way bills, POS on desktop

Two arithmetic points help a buyer. First, billing annually matters: myBillBook Plus works out to ₹4,188 a year if paid at ₹349 monthly, against ₹3,490 on the annual route, a gap of ₹698. Pro is ₹4,788 at ₹399 monthly against ₹3,990 annually, a gap of ₹798. Second, for a single-business shop the two entry desktop plans sit within ₹191 of each other (₹3,799 against ₹3,990), so price alone will not decide it. Features and working style will.

Vyapar also publishes mobile prices: Silver ₹699, Gold ₹799 and Retail Pro ₹2,099 a year, plus a lifetime free mobile plan limited to one firm. Vyapar describes extra multi-year discounts on each plan ("Buy for 3 Years"), so ask which term suits you.

Offline-first or cloud-first: which fits your counter

This is the practical divider. Vyapar's offline page says the software "works completely offline on Windows Desktop and Android devices" and "saves your data on your device by default". You can back up to a local device or Google Drive when connected, and switch on Cloud Sync later; the page says Cloud Sync and premium business tools are part of paid plans. Offline work syncs once the connection returns, though the page does not explain how edit conflicts are handled.

myBillBook takes the opposite default. Its PC page says data is cloud-connected, so records are not tied to one computer, and that "an active internet connection is required for syncing and accessing supported online features". The benefit is that bills, stock and reports open from any linked device without a manual backup routine.

A Kolhapur hardware shop on a patchy connection that must keep billing through power-and-network cuts leans towards Vyapar. A Mumbai FMCG distributor whose owner wants to check dues from a phone while the counter PC bills leans towards myBillBook's cloud design. Neither is wrong; they solve different failure modes. If you run several shops and need one view across them, read multi-branch billing in one system before choosing.

GST, e-invoicing and stock: what each plan unlocks

Vyapar's PC page lists E-way Bill and E-Invoice among Gold-plan features, along with low-stock alerts, WhatsApp integration and TCS/TDS on invoices. Its accounting page also describes GST reports, HSN/SAC details on transactions and reverse-charge recording. Retail Pro adds godown and stock transfer, useful if one owner runs a shop and a warehouse. Pair this with Vyapar Inventory if stock accuracy is your main pain.

On myBillBook, e-invoicing and unlimited e-way bills appear only in Pro Max. A trader whose turnover forces e-invoicing therefore cannot rely on the cheaper tiers. Check your own obligation first; the e-invoicing setup guide for small businesses walks through the thresholds and steps. Stock links to billing automatically on myBillBook, and its inventory module extends that.

For the desktop till, myBillBook's Windows POS page lists item-first billing, barcode scanning, several bills held open at once, keyboard shortcuts and printing through a supported printer setup, with POS listed under Pro Max. Vyapar's PC page mentions barcode-based billing and keyboard shortcuts. For the full counter workflow, see barcode billing software for faster checkout.

Who should pick which (and who should pick neither)

  • One-counter retailer with unreliable internet: Vyapar Desktop Silver. Offline default, three firms included.
  • Owner who tracks dues from a phone all day: myBillBook Pro, because data is on the cloud and the desktop app is included.
  • Business that must issue e-invoices: myBillBook Pro Max, or Vyapar Gold; compare both against your invoice volume.
  • Three or more users at the counter: myBillBook Pro Max lists 3 users; Vyapar's page mentions role-based multi-user access without a number, so ask during the trial.
  • Not for you: a company that needs full double-entry accounting, multi-currency or deep manufacturing workflows should look at Zoho Books or TallyPrime instead, as covered in the Tally vs Zoho Books vs Busy comparison. A shop that only needs a credit register can use an app like OkCredit; see Khatabook vs OkCredit on desktop.

For a wider market view, the side-by-side of Sleek Bill, myBillBook, Vyapar and Swipe and the best billing software for small business guide cover more options. Vendor-side write-ups: how Vyapar helps small businesses grow and how myBillBook helps small businesses grow.

A one-week trial plan before you pay

  1. Day 1: List your must-haves: number of businesses, number of counter users, printer type, whether you issue e-invoices.
  2. Day 2: Install Vyapar on the Windows PC with its 7-day all-features trial. Import 20 real parties and 20 items.
  3. Day 3: Sign up for myBillBook on the same PC, install the desktop app on a plan that includes it, and enter the same data.
  4. Days 4-5: Bill real customers in both. Time a busy-hour bill, test the thermal printer and the barcode scanner.
  5. Day 6: Unplug the internet. See what each app lets you do. Reconnect and check whether the data matches on your phone.
  6. Day 7: Pull the GST sales report from both and hand it to your CA. Pick the one they find easier to read.

Do not move your last two years of data until the trial bills have passed the CA test.
