Quick answer: Start with the free Google Business Profile: share a review link or QR code and reply to every review. Add a paid tool only when volume demands it: Grade.us and GatherUp both list $99 a month for one location, NiceJob offers a 14-day trial, and Birdeye and Podium quote privately. For brand monitoring, Mentionlytics publishes plans from $49 a month. Never pay for reviews or filter out unhappy customers.

How we researched this: We read Google's review and Business Profile policies, the pricing and product pages of Grade.us, GatherUp, NiceJob, Birdeye, Podium, Feedback by Reelo, Mention, Mentionlytics and Brandwatch, and Meta's INR rate card. Prices are as published in October 2026.

Google's rules decide what any tool is allowed to do

Every review tool automates one activity: asking customers for a Google review. Google's own policy sets the limits, and a tool that breaks them can get reviews removed, so read the rules before you read the feature lists.

Google's Maps content policy bans fake engagement, which includes paid reviews, posting from several accounts controlled by one person, and offering "payment, discounts, free goods and/or services" in exchange for a review. It also bars merchants from discouraging or prohibiting negative reviews or "selectively solicit[ing] positive reviews". It forbids pressuring customers to leave ratings on the premises, requiring staff to solicit a set number of reviews, and requesting specific review content, including content naming a staff member. What is allowed is soliciting genuine reviews without incentives or attempts to influence the rating or content.

Google's Business Profile help adds the practical side. Ask customers "to visit a Google link or scan a QR code", reply to reviews in a professional, brief and relevant way, avoid the same generic thank-you for everyone, and do not use replies to promote deals. Google also says a mix of positive and negative feedback often feels more trustworthy, so do not try to hide the negative.

One pattern to avoid is the "happy customers only" funnel. A flow that asks "How was your meal?" and sends only the four- and five-star answers to Google is, in effect, selective solicitation. Feedback by Reelo's page, for example, describes guests who leave positive feedback being prompted to post it on Google. If you use any tool in that pattern, configure the Google link to go to everyone, and treat internal feedback as a service-recovery channel, not a filter. The same goes for "scan this QR code and get 10% off" at the billing counter.

Review generation tools: prices and limits side by side

Google review automation software mostly means sending a review link after a real sale, so what differs is channel, limits and price. All prices are per the vendors' own pages (checked October 2026). None of the paid options we found publishes a rupee price.

ToolPrice shownMain limits and notes
Google Business ProfileFreeReview link or QR code, replies, reporting of policy-breaking reviews; reviewers need a Google Account
Grade.usSmall Business $99 a month (one location); Multi Location $60 per location a month (2 to 10 locations shown); Agency by quote. USD only14-day trial, 3 seats, no card; trial excludes text messaging and API; annual billing 20% off; "We do not offer refunds"
GatherUpSmall Business $99 a month; Multi Location $60 per location a month (dollar sign, currency not named); Listings Hub add-on $40 per locationIncludes up to 300 SMS and 3,000 email credits per location a month; monitors 100+ review sites; QR codes, AI-crafted replies; Listings Hub covers 125 directories; annual billing saves 20%
NiceJobNo prices on its home page14-day free trial, no card; Starter features (reviews, social proof, leaderboard, microsite) in every plan; Pro adds repeats, referrals, AI replies, broadcasts and NPS surveys
BirdeyeQuote only; priced by outcomes and locationsForm asks for location count in bands from 1-3 to 1000+; no free trial mentioned, demo offered
Podium"Talk to our sales team"Modules include Reviews, Inbox, Payments and Text Marketing; no trial mentioned
Feedback by ReeloNo INR figures on its pageRestaurant and cafe focus; requests by WhatsApp, SMS, email or in-store tablet; "forever-free plan" mentioned

Three observations from the table:

  • The two $99 plans are almost identical on price, so compare credits and trial terms. GatherUp's page states 300 SMS and 3,000 email credits per location a month. Grade.us's page tells you what the trial leaves out: text messaging, API and the white-label dashboard.
  • SMS in India has an extra layer. TRAI's guidance says a sender of commercial messages must register as a Principal Entity, register a header and content templates, and obtain consent through a registered consent template; ask any vendor in writing how it handles that for India. Our guide to SMS and OTP gateways explains that regime.
  • WhatsApp requests are their own cost. If you send review requests over WhatsApp, Meta charges per delivered message. Its INR rate card, effective 1 October 2026, lists ₹0.115 for a utility message and ₹0.8631 for a marketing message, and Meta decides which category a template falls into. See our comparison of WhatsApp Business API providers before relying on it.

What "reputation management" adds beyond collecting reviews

Online reputation management (ORM) is a bundle of four jobs: getting reviews, replying to them, keeping listings accurate, and watching what people say elsewhere. Vendors split them differently.

Replies. Birdeye's page says its Review Response agent reads the full review, including text and photos, and either posts replies on its own or holds them for approval. GatherUp lists AI-crafted replies and in-app responding, and NiceJob lists AI Replies on Pro. Hold every AI reply for approval until you trust the wording. Google asks that replies protect reviewers' privacy and avoid personal attacks, which matters for a clinic or a salon where a careless reply can reveal who visited.

Listings. GatherUp's Listings Hub add-on ($40 per location a month) manages 125 online directories. In India, directory presence also means platforms such as Justdial and Sulekha, whose costs we cover in Justdial and Sulekha listing costs. BrightLocal and Reputation are also listed on App Advisor; we have not compared their prices here.

Monitoring. Brand monitoring software India buyers can try, such as Mention, Mentionlytics and Brandwatch, searches the web, social media and news for your name. Mention's pricing page describes one plan, "Company", listed as "starting at" a price you should confirm on the live page, with a monthly or yearly option ("pay yearly and get 2 months free"), advanced Boolean alerts of up to 2,000 characters and coverage of 75+ review sites. Mentionlytics publishes its plans (yearly billing): Basic $49 a month on yearly billing with 3 keyword rules, 5,000 monthly mentions, 10 social profiles and 2 users; Essential $169 with 10 keyword rules and 15,000 mentions; Advanced $299 with 15 rules and 50,000 mentions; Pro $499; Business $749; Enterprise from $1,299. Its page does not list supported languages, so ask whether Hindi, Marathi or Tamil mentions are covered. Brandwatch publishes no prices and says it monitors "over 100m sources", but its page makes no mention of review management.

Three Indian scenarios worked through

A Hyderabad restaurant doing about 120 covers a day. That is roughly 3,600 guests a month. GatherUp's single-location plan includes 300 SMS and 3,000 email credits, so about 3,300 credits at most, short of the 3,600 guests even if every guest gave a contact. A table QR code printed on the bill covers the gap for no credit cost. Add Reelo Feedback only if you want guests' complaints sent to a manager's WhatsApp before they leave, as its page describes, and keep the Google link open to every guest. Our guide to restaurant POS and online ordering software shows where billing systems can trigger the request.

A three-clinic dental group in Pune. Three locations on a multi-location plan would be 3 × $60 = $180 a month at the $60 per-location rate shown for the 2-10 location tier, before any add-ons. Clinics need the strictest reply discipline: never confirm that the reviewer was a patient, and move any clinical discussion offline. Our guide to CRM for clinics shows where to record the follow-up.

A 12-branch Chennai jewellery chain. Grade.us's page shows a rate only for the 2-10 location tier, and lists higher tiers (11-16 and beyond) without rates, so a 12-branch quote must come from the vendor. Birdeye's location-band form fits this size. Ask for a pilot across two showrooms and decide on the basis of review volume and reply time, not on a demo.

Who should skip which tool

  • Single-outlet businesses should skip Birdeye and Podium. Both are quote-only and built around multi-location programmes. The free Google tools plus a printed QR code cover most of what a single shop needs.
  • Skip any "review funnel" that filters by star rating. It clashes with Google's policy against selectively soliciting positive reviews.
  • Skip incentive schemes. Google says offers of discounts or free goods in exchange for reviews are prohibited and treated as fake and misleading content.
  • Skip heavy monitoring suites if your brand is rarely discussed online. Brandwatch is built for much larger monitoring programmes. A Mention or Mentionlytics Basic plan is a more proportionate trial.
  • Skip US-dollar tools if a rupee invoice matters to your accountant: Grade.us states "All charges are made in US dollars".

A 30-day plan to double down on genuine reviews

  1. Days 1 to 3: claim and verify your Business Profile, correct the opening hours and phone number, and create the review link and QR code from the Profile.
  2. Days 4 to 10: train staff to ask every customer, with no discount attached and no target per employee, since Google prohibits staff targets.
  3. Days 11 to 20: reply to every existing review within a day or two in a human voice, with the business name and the issue, not copy-paste thanks. Report any review that breaks Google's content policy.
  4. Days 21 to 30: if volume justifies it, trial one tool for 14 days against the same checklist: does it send the same link to all customers, can you hold AI replies for approval, what are the SMS and WhatsApp costs. Then connect it to your follow-up automation so requests go out after real transactions.

Social posts are another place reputation is built; our guides to social media management tools and AI social media post tools cover them, and local search visibility is covered in SEO tools in India.

FAQs

How do I get more Google reviews for my business in India?

Share your Business Profile review link or a QR code with every customer after a real transaction, and reply to the reviews you receive. Google's help page recommends exactly this and prohibits incentives, so do not offer discounts.

What is the best review generation platform small business owners can start with?

For one location, start with the free Google tools, then trial Grade.us, GatherUp or NiceJob, each of which offers a 14-day trial. Check the SMS credits, India SMS rules and the price in dollars before you decide.

How much does Birdeye cost?

Birdeye does not publish prices; its pricing page asks you to request a quote and says pricing is built around outcomes and the locations you deploy. Expect a sales conversation.

What is online reputation management ORM software?

It is software that collects reviews, helps you reply, keeps business listings consistent and monitors mentions of your brand. Some tools do all four; others, like Mentionlytics and Mention, focus on monitoring only.

Can brand monitoring tools track Hindi mentions?

Mentionlytics' pricing page mentions sentiment analysis in all languages but does not list supported languages, so ask before you buy. Confirm Hindi, Marathi or Tamil coverage in the trial.
