Razorpay is a Bengaluru-based payments and banking technology company. IIT Roorkee alumni Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar founded it in 2014. Its registered address is SJR Cyber, Laskar Hosur Road, Adugodi, Bengaluru. Harshil Mathur is CEO and Shashank Kumar is Managing Director.
Razorpay's payment gateway lets online businesses accept UPI, cards, net banking and wallets. Its other products include Payment Links and Payment Pages, Razorpay Invoices, Razorpay Subscriptions for recurring billing, and Magic Checkout. Through RazorpayX it offers business banking, payouts and corporate cards, and its payroll product came from the 2019 acquisition of Opfin. It entered in-person payments by acquiring an 80% stake in POS maker Ezetap in 2022. Razorpay announced the Ezetap deal on 18 August 2022 and described it as its sixth and largest acquisition. At the time it said about 8 million businesses used Razorpay, and that its total payment volume had been US$80 billion as of April 2022.
Razorpay sells online with self-serve onboarding, and larger merchants get negotiated pricing. The gateway charges a fee per successful transaction, which varies by payment method, and invoices carry GST. The company says more than 50 lakh businesses use Razorpay. Its investors include GIC, Sequoia, Ribbit Capital, Tiger Global, Matrix Partners India, Y Combinator and Lightspeed.
Razorpay was originally held by a US parent. In May 2025 it completed a 'reverse flip' that moved its domicile back to India, with Ministry of Corporate Affairs approval. Its first overseas acquisition was Malaysian fintech Curlec in February 2022. Razorpay also bought Pune-based IZealiant Technologies, a payments technology provider for banks, in March 2022, and AI risk platform TERA Finlabs in 2021.
